Karakachan Dog Membership Application
REGISTRATION
Once a member, you can begin registering
your Karakachan Dogs for breeding or non-breeding status.
Dogs
meet registration requirements if they fall into one of the following two categories:
- Are offspring
of parents registered with The Karakachan Dog Association of America (KDAA).
- Are registered
with or are offspring of parents registered with the International Karakachan Dog Association (IKDA).
All applications for registration of
dogs born in North America on or after June 1, 2008 must be submitted by the breeder
of the litter. Applications for entire litters, partial litters, or individual dogs must be submitted to the association by
the breeder.
For dogs born before June 1, 2008,
individual owners may submit the applications for registration, as long as the breeder's information, complete with contact
information, is included for verification purposes, and such verification can be obtained.
Dogs not clearly eligible are handled on a case-by-case basis.
- Have incomplete pedigrees.
- Individual
cases will be strengthened if the dogs in question can be traced back to ancestors in the stud book of the International Karakachan
Dog Association and/or The Karakachan Dog Association of America.
Dogs ineligible
for registration:
- The KDAA is
a working livestock guardian registry and believes that breeding for conformation standards or as pets rather than working
ability is detrimental to the health and working ability of the Karakachan Dog. To be eligible for registration, a Karakachan
or the parents of a Karakachan puppy must be working livestock guardians.
Registration with non-breeding
status
At the breeder’s discretion,
particular dogs or entire litters may be registered with a non-breeding status. Breeders can use this type of registration
to ensure that pups with genetic health problems do not pass them on. Both buyer
and seller must agree when the pup is registered, and the breeding restriction can only be lifted later if buyer and seller
both agree.
Registration Fees
- $15.00 fee
for each dog registered
- $8.00 fee
for each transfer of ownership (accompanied by original KDAA registration certificate)
- $2.00 fee
for replacement certificate
We accept Check, Money Order, and Paypal for payment.
